Vitalik Buterin just sold trillions of memes

An address associated with Vitalik Buterin, the cofounder of Ethereum, has been reported to engage in significant cryptocurrency transactions involving meme coins in the trillions.

The Vb-labeled address swapped 100,000,000,000,111 DOBE tokens for 10.44 ETH and exchanged 1,858,140,000,000 DOJO tokens for 3.12 ETH. These transactions are notable for their size and the involvement of meme coins, known for their volatility and ties to internet culture.

Both assets were reportedly airdropped to Buterin’s address, suggesting he may not have been aware of these specific assets. The decision to sell these tokens appears pragmatic, converting them into more recognized value and liquidity.

The use of airdrops to attract retail investors has become common in the cryptocurrency industry. Projects often send tokens to prominent figures, leveraging their influence for marketing. Buterin’s address has received airdrops, including those from Shiba Inu, which he donated to charity. The presence of tokens in influential personalities’ wallets is seen as an endorsement.
